Almost Hartz Peak

On Tuesday the 4th of February we nearly made it to Hartz Peak.

It was 6 degrees and despite Tas's best efforts it began to rain and continued until we stopped for morning tea (30 minutes late!) and I began to finally put on my rain gear. That was the signal for it to stop. However, the peak was still covered with cloud so we decided not to continue as there would be no views, the rocks would be slippery, and no one wanted any injuries.

The decision was made to walk to Lake Osborne and then Arve Falls. The walk into Osborne was very interesting with a variety of country in such a short walk. It's a glacier lake and you can see piles of glacial debris on the way in.

After lunch at the lake, we returned to the cars and the drivers moved them down to the start of the walk to the Arve Falls. Pretty, but not spectacular, there'd be more water in the winter.

Then we returned back to base, it was a longer journey for someone, but I won't mention any names.

Question: What did Wombats do before people put in paths?
