Redwood Road Return Loop 29 Aug 2023

Our leader today Ron is taking us on the laneways and pathways between Kingston Community Hall, Blackmans Bay and Peter Murrell Reserve. It should be an interesting link up.

It looks to be a nice late winters day for the walk.

Even Cathedral Rock looks inviting.

Shortlay after leaving the carpark we come across the first of the pathways.

Through the reserve and cross the next road via a tunnel.

Whoops it looks like we left one walker behind.

The view of Blackmans Bay and beyond from the highest point on today's walk.

On top of the pile of sandstone boulders

The boulders from underneath.

A series of  laneways going down towards the coast.

Mary Knoll Reserve which had a number of different birds in the trees.

Including some accommodation for the birds.

Carrying out an inspection of the Blowhole at Blackmans Bay.

A view from near the Blowhole with the sun shining on the houses.

Morning tea at the beach  playground.

Looking back along Blackmans Bay Beach.

More views from the track leading up from the Bay.

Some of the salmon industry infrastructure fairly close to the shore.

Today's view of Mount Wellington with the suburbs in the foreground.

After climbing through a number of laneways and streetscapes we arrived at Peter Murrell Reserve for lunch.

Lunch over we continue on through the Reserve where some of the wildflowers are just starting to emerge from the winter.

Still in the Reserve but now following  the Coffee Creek Track behind the Huntingfield Industrial area.

A pair of Wood Ducks sitting on the jetty fence at Penryhn Pond.

After another road underpass we are climbing the hill back to our starting point at Redwood Road.

There were 14 walkers who covered 14.7 Kms in just under 5 hours and climbed 150 metres.

A pleasant days walk through areas that some of the group had not been to even though they live in the area.

According to Ron we walked through at least 23 laneways or pathways on the day.
