Cape Queen Elizabeth Bruny Island.

Todays walk is an out and back return to Cape Queen Elizabeth on Bruny Island.

There was a bit of excitement in the group as most were to travel on the new Bruny Island Ferries for the first time.

We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived at the terminal expecting to have to wait but we were loaded on board efficiently with most having a quick explore of the new ferry.

The group getting ready to leave the carpark which already had a few cars. It appears to be a popular walk but we noted later that a number of the walkers just went as far as the beach.

The beach is the ideal spot for a morning tea stop.

While everyone was having morning tea I went for a stroll around the headland to check if we could walk along the beach but the tide was too high.

Walking back along the beach to see whether of not we could avoid climbing Mars Bluff but it was not to be as the tide was still high.

Walking the track returning to the cars.

The weather for the day started out overcast but by the time we commenced to walk most of the cloud had dispersed and we had a relatively sunny day although the wind was sometimes a bit cool.

There were 17 walkers on today's trip which is one of the largest groups for this term. We walked 12.5 kms in 4 hrs 30 mins.

Kingston 20 Jul 2021

Today's walk was to be to Myrtle Forest but with rain  forecast and snow to lower levels on Mt Wellington it was decided to defer this walk to later in the year and today's walk shortened to a walk around Kingston Beach including Boronia Beach and parts of Alum Cliffs track.

Getting ready to leave the car park in Kingston Beach.

Heading back towards Kingston.

The walk was reduced from our usual walking time as the rain was forecast to commence around midday which proved to be fairly accurate.

There were 11 hardy walkers who walked approx 6kms in 2 and a half hours.
