If you don't like boulder hopping, stay away from this one!
It was a beautiful day, perfect weather when we left the Chalet on Mt. Wellington and started along the Organ Pipes Track to pick up the start of the Red Paint Tracks. These tracks are not on the modern map, but there is a Red Paint track on a 1935 walk map.
After leaving the top of the Organ Pipes, we walked up and came out right under the Viewing Platform at the top of Wellington. As I said, it was a beautiful day and there were many tourists taking photos of the view when we appeared out of the bushes below them. I'm sure most of us feature somewhere around the world in someone's slide show.
After lunch beside the platform, we walked down the road and picked up the Panorama Track, continued down to the road and back to the Chalet to pick up the cars.
One confusing thing, there are 2 Red Paint Tracks, this one which we call Red Paint 1 and is marked by 2 red spots painted on boulders, and Red Paint 2 which we did in 2012 which has 1 red spot paint on the boulders.
I can't remember exactly how many people, probably 8-10, but we walked 4.15km in 3.25 hours. Not long, but steep!
