Kingston Various - 13 Dec 2022

Todays walk was around Kingston with a Xmas breakup lunch for the group on the way.

We started from our normal rendezvous at the Kingston Community Hall.

Wandering through the open space behind Kingston Primary School.

Where there was a good view across Kingston of Mt Wellington.

Climbing the hill behind Kingston with the Mountain in the background.

Mendelt assisted the walkers onto a side track down to Kingston Beach.

Which proved to be a bit overgrown with lush looking weeds and grasses no doubt a result of the recent continuing rainy spells.

Onto the Kingston recreation ground.

While walking alongside Browns River somebody noted that there were seagulls nesting of the roof and chimney of one of the older houses.

We stopped at the edge of Browns River for a morning tea break opposite this very old house that appears to be on the Kingston Beach Golf Club site.

As soon as we sat on the edge of the river we had these little ducks arrive looking for a feed no doubt.

There was some conversation about spending the rest of the morning just sitting in this pleasant place.

But off we all went along Kingston Beach foreshore.

Following the track around the cliffs to Boronia Beach.

Where there was a debate about will we or won't we actually go to the beach.

It was decided we would and because of the weather it was worth it.

And while we were on the beach this little fellow was looking out through the bush to see whether or not we were threat to him.

Shortly after we arrived at Lyn and Brian's house to partake in some Xmas cheer. Thank you both for having us at your home.

At the end of lunch and not long before the next weather front passed through with its associated rain band about half the group walked over the hill to the cars while the rest of us took advantage of wheeled transport.

The walk to Lyn and Brian's was 7 kms and took the group 2 hrs 15 mins with the morning tea break.
