Our walk today is around Tinderbox and Howden including Peter Murrell Reserve south of Hobart.
The day is forecast to be cloudy and mild.
The walk started with a stroll along Tinderbox Hills.
A view through the trees across the Derwent River.
Our first view of Mount Wellington from the western side of the track.
We had morning tea with a clear view of Mt Wellington and on moving off came across a couple of tree trunks supported by stakes with what looked like nesting holes for birds???
Descending Tinderbox Hills which was quite steep.
At last the track to the old Battery site.
An unusual hole in the foot of a eucalypt tree that was quite deep but had no occupants that we could see.
The first of the old Battery storage sheds.
We crossed over Tinderbox Road and headed for North West Bay.
The boat ramp at the end of Wingara Road.
A panorama of North West Bay from Wingara Road.
Another view of Mt Wellington.
A boat shed with a view.
The foreshore around Howden has some interesting sandstone cliffs.
A tree covered in seagrass.
A different way to moor your dinghy.
The group trying to avoid crossing the muddy centres of the bays.
Stinkpot Bay at low tide.
From the lookout at the entrance to Stinkpot Bay.
Further meandering along the coast before we headed inland to Peter Murrell Reserve.
In Peter Murrell Reserve.
The ladies are getting excited because they know that the cars are just up the last hill.
We had 22 walkers who walked 13.5km and climbing 300 meters in 5.5 hours.
An interesting walk through which we have travelled with variations previously.
Thanks to David for leading the walk.
