If you were expecting a blog about a Gordons Hll to Second Bluff walk, you're out of luck.
The day dawned extremely windy and cold and didn't improve by the time I arrived in Kingston to link up with rest of the walkers.
The original plan was to walk on the eastern shore of the River Derwent, but with a cold southerly wind it would not have been a pleasant day. I think the car thermometer registered around 4-5C on the way up.
Almost immediately a decision was taken to do the Alum Cliffs walk, so the five of moved down to park next to Browns River.

Notice the ghostly figure of the photograher |

Thanks to Bob, the photographer now appears in the photo. Of course, many will not consider that a good thing |
We set off towards the beach, crossing the foot bridge over the river and setting off along the marked track.

Gellibrand Point |
We follow the track until we reach a sheltered table for Morning Tea.

Morning Tea. A fairly spirited discussion is taking place |

There are steep drops here |
Tea finished, we head back. We could have continued on, past the old Shot Tower to Taroona, but Sally assures us it will rain by 11:15, so back we go.

Heading back |
On the way we reach a point where Bob suggests making a loop, so we climb the track to Taronga Road. This takes us around to Sedgebrook Road followed by Wootten Drive at the end of which is a track leading down to our original route back to Kingston.

Damp and shady bush on the way back |
We start to have a few raindrops, but not enough to bother us yet.
We decide to take a branch of the track leading down to the beach, and part of the old, original track. This involves a zig zag descent.
Ron, who has just returned from sunny Queensland, requests the next photo as it appears typical of a tropical beach. However, when I request a couple of male models to strip off and provide some atmosphere, no one was willing.

Rare event, Ron leading Bob |
Reaching the bottom we follow the old track. Along the way rocks have been balanced on top of each other by someone very skilled, and I didn't get a photo.
We did find one that had fallen, and tried our best to restore it, but I suspect the three of us were too unbalanced to do so.

Best we could do. The pipe is not part of it |
The rain begins to steady so it's a quick walk back to the cars.
We had 5 walkers and covered 8.5km in 2:44 hrs. A good walk and perfect for the day.
No GPX file as it's a well known walk.
