Cape Raoul 2020

Cape Raoul Walk 15 Sep 2020.

I wasn't on this walk, and the photos and commentary have been kindly supplied by Peter. -Jack

There were 13 walkers for the trip.

We left Kingston at 8.30am arriving at the track head at 10.30am however because of constructions works on the road into Stormlea one car was held up for about 20 mins by the roadworks.

After deciding to have morning tea at the car park while we waited for the other car we left for the walk at about 11.00am.

The day was cloudy and had been predicted to be windy.

The walk to the Cape Raoul turnoff took 30 minutes and we were at the first lookout by about 11.45am.

Following the trail from the first lookout there were a number of quite stunning lookouts along the way.

The trail is excellent with a series of large evenly spaced steps making the descent to the plateau quite easy.

Once on the plateau it was easy walking out to the Cape Raoul and Seal Lookouts where we arrived at about 1.10pm.

We sheltered out of the wind at Seal Lookout for a lunch.

Initially the return trip looked a bit daunting with the return climb seen from below however everyone took it in their stride and we returned back to the car park at approximately 4.00pm.

It was a good day for walking weather wise and everyone enjoyed the condition of the track and stunning scenery.

We had 13 walkers and walked approx. 16.2 km in 5 hours.
