Lauderdale To Cremorne - 20 June 2023

Despite cool windy weather forecast (apparent temperatures of around -2 all day!)16 hardy walkers set out on the walk along the coast from Roaches Beach (near Lauderdale) to Cremorne. In order to achieve this comfortably, today's leader Chris arranged for a car shuffle.

While drivers moved the cars to Cremorne the rest of us sent off towards the canal where we plan to meet up.

Not sure what this is .. it appears to be some birds sitting on a small canoe attached to a boat mooring buoy

It was unanimously decided to have morning tea while waiting for the drivers to return

Some of the friendly bird life in the vicinity

Continuing towards Cremorne passing Mays Beach along the way

The beach was a treasure trove of unusual seaweed, sponges, starfish etc.

Joy found this 'Shark Egg Case' or "Mermaid Purse' - these cases protect the eggs in a similar fashion to egg shells.  It is rare for them to washed up on beaches and are said to bring the finder good luck.  A short time later she found another - is it time for her to buy a lotto ticket?

We reach our lunch spot which has a good view across the water looking towards Dodges Ferry

What is Chris, today's walk leader, up to?  Is he calling for rain .. is he seeking guidance .. is he running for parliament .. or perhaps he is spruiking some new product?

We come across this rock construction whilst walking through Calvert's Hill Reserve

As we approach Cremorne can be seen in the distance

Sally wondering where everyone has got to as we returned to the beach after a short stop .. the enlarged picture on the right shows how quickly the rest were walking

Cremorne jetty

The only access to the houses on the point is to drive along the sand

Today we walked 12.5kms in just under 4 hours either along beaches or on tracks just above the beach. We were fortunate that it was almost all in the lee side of the wind, which meant that we had a pleasant walk.
