A pleasant stroll around the dam.
Leaving the dam track behind we start climbing towards our goal.
An interested spectator as the group wandered past.
Prickly Moses.
Our first view of the dam from the track.
Gunners Quoin in the distance.
Morning tea on the edge of the transmission line easement.
Following the easement further up the hill.
The view towards Mount Direction from the ridge top.
The view over the Derwent towards Mount Faulkner with Old Beach in the foreground.
It would be interesting to know why this particular tree had to go full circle in its growth pattern.
Still climbing.
Our first view from Madmans Hill.
After lunch we continue on towards Gunners Quoin.
Then followed a bit of off track navigation past Gunners Quoin to get us to the next track leading down to the Dam.
Our last time through this area the Xanthorrhoea had not been burnt and had quite a lot of foliage. This looked like it was as a result of a fuel reduction burn.
A bit further along on the opposite of the track there was no more burning.
This culvert was damaged when we last crossed it and will probably fall into the gully at some time soon.
A formal inspection was carried out and Ron and Morris will be forwarding their recommendations to the appropriate authourities.
Our first sighting of the dam since we left it about 4 hours ago.
A shy mountain dragon lizard hiding in the leaf litter and not very big alongside the wallaby droppings next to it.
Lots of happy faces as they can see the cars in the carpark.
Finishing our walk with a view of Mount Wellington.
