Lindisfarne / Natone Hill - 9 January 2024

 Our first walk for 2024.

We often walk in this general area but there are parts of today's route that we haven't been on for 7 years or so. With the forecast for warm sunny weather everyone is raring to go.

Thanks to Ingrid and Chris for providing the pictures.

We set off along Lindisfarne Bay heading towards the sailing club

Through Anzac Park where there are memorials to Australian soldiers in World War 2.

We enter the Clarence Foreshore Trail.  This takes us to Geilston Bay and passes some well established properties.

What are Ingrid and Stephen examining so closely?  Chris swears it isn't what he had for lunch!

We pass this tin of biscuits sitting on the side of the path .. always inquisitive Ingrid checks it out and finds a thank you note from Paddington Bear!

Approaching Geilston Bay

It didn't take much persuasion to convince everyone to stop for morning tea - a nice shady spot with a view across the bay

After morning tea we cross Faggs Gully Creek and follow the road to Bedlam Walls Reserve

We pass this monster Mountain Dragon (Rankinia Diemensis)

Maybe not so big after all

We start our return journey by following the ridge line back towards Geilston Bay

"Gentleman" Chris helps Jenny on the steep descent down to the water level from the ridge top

Crossing the bridge over Fagg Gully Creek

Chris says .. it may claim to be the most attractive street but we went straight on past it

We enter the Natone Hill Reserve

A short climb later and we get this view of the Tasman Bridge

It's decided to take lunch in this shady spot just before the climb to the top

The climb begins

I reach the top and the group is nowhere to be seen!

Here they are having a rest and enjoying the view over Hobart's northern suburbs

After a short break we make our way back down heading towards Lindisfarne

Another great view of the bridge

Home straight

It was suggested that this photo should be called "Three Wise Monkeys".  However I feel that "Three Wise People" would be more appropriate.

Today 16 walkers took 4.5 hours to walk 12.5kms in perfect walking weather
