We will be climbing Mount Nelson from the car park on Channel Highway via the Truganini Track then the Cartwright Trail and Troglodyte Trails to Mt Nelson returning via the Truganini Track to the car park.
The forecast is for a cool overcast day which makes for a comfortable climb of Mount Nelson.
The current dry we have been experiencing is very obvious the first time we cross Cartwright Creek.
Climbing the Cartwright Track.
View across the Derwent to Droughty Point.
The view looking up the Derwent from just below the old WWII Battery on Porters Hill.
Its amazing how the insects make inroads into the dead timber.
A further view of the Tasman Bridge.
And Mount Wellington.
The final climb to the Mount Nelson Signal Station.
Observed by a very relaxed local.
A multitude of Jewel Bugs Nymphs.
Ingrid wondering what is happening where we were going to have lunch.
A surprise birthday celebration provided by her daughter for the group.
Morris looking well satisfied after the lunch.
Heading down the Truganini Track.
A very small trickle in the creek nearly the bottom of the track.
No doubt a discussion about the cake at the top and that it should happen more often.
