Today's scheduled walk was to be held at Mt Field but as the weather forecast for that area was terrible we decided to move the walk to somewhere more suitable and chose Peter Murrell reserve.
The walk started in the small car park just off Scarborough Avenue and it didn't take long to get into the bush along the Sandflats Track.
The first obstacle of the day
Haydn is a big fan of Alone Australia and the question was asked - is he looking at the creek and surrounding area to assess what materials he could use to catch a fish?
Important discussion!
We continue along the Coffee Creek Fire Trail until we reach Howden Road
At various parts of today's walk we saw these magical "diamond" displays - drops of water were suspended in spider webs and when lit up by the sun provided amazing sparkle
A tasty mushroom - we can tell it's tasty because something has taken a large bite out of it
Heading towards our lunch spot
A new friend checks us out
We didn't see many fungi today but these whoppers will take some beating for size - not sure about the taste though
After lunch we start to make our way back towards the cars by using various tracks which basically follow Coffee Creek
Distinctive large burls on the tree
Obligatory view of Mt Wellington - with rain at the top
Nearly back to the cars
Thanks Jenny for leading todays walk. 14 walkers covered 11.6kms in mostly sunny weather with a temperature of about 15 degrees - perfect hiking conditions
