Clark Cliffs - 29 September 2026

12 walkers came along for today's walk with a forecast for a sunny day of about 22 degrees with little or no wind .. another perfect day for hiking.

The walk didn't start till about 11:15 due to delays caused by roadworks and the closing of the Dunalley Bridge for a passing boat.

Getting ready to begin

We will of course take the designated hard walk which is a loop passing Clark Cliffs

The start of  hike follows "Fire Tower Road"

This old tree stump almost looks like a dinosaur waiting to attack Hadyn!

Shortly after we reach Norfolk Bay Lookout and decide it's a good place for morning tea

Looking towards Norfolk Bay

Morning tea over we soon leave the road and take the trail to Clark Cliffs.  The track  quickly becomes more difficult - fallen trees, lots of obstacles and very windy.

This photo shows some of the debris caused by fallen trees

Some of the larger obstacles we passed

This must have been a decent size tree at one time

We reach Musk Forrest and stop for a look

After admiring the view we leave Musk forest and head off to Clark Cliffs and its lunch time

Lunch over there is a short flat section of dry bush before we begin the steep decent back to the cars.

Near the end of the track a fallen tree forces us to go off the track and  through a section of cutting grass

On the descent we went through some lovely green areas filled with moss, ferns and lichens

Here is a selection of flora we passed today

This interesting walk although fairly short (about 8kms) covers a wide variety of flora as it loops around the forest.  It can be seen on the elevation profile that there is a steady climb to Clark Cliffs and then a very steep descent back to the cars.
