Lambert Avenue to Mt Nelson return - 19 May 2026

We are walking from Lambert Avenue, Sandy Bay to the Mount Nelson Signal Station.

Leaving Lambert Park.

Very casual walking today.

Starting the climb.

Morning tea finished and still happy climbers.

Map of Tasmania with the Furneaux Islands and King Island rock stack alongside the track that looks suspiciously like it might have been added to by some of the group.

A glorious day for a panorama from the Signal Station.

Our leaders making plans for the return journey.

One lonely Scarlet Robin trying to hide in the bushes. (not very clear photo though)

Rather than have to walk on some of the suburbs streets our leaders take us cross country.

On coming across this poor creature on our cross country someone commented "remains from the skeleton of the last person to pass this way".

Out of the bush and now back on the track.

There were 17 walkers who covered 7.7km in just over 4 hours climbing and descending 320m. A good walk that was enjoyed by all.

Thanks to Chris and Mendelt for their photos and comments.
