Peter Murell - 6 October 2026

Because the weather forecast for today was for rain most of the morning , it was decided to change the walk to Peter Murrell reserve.

12 walkers set off from the Burwood Road entrance to the reserve - note that everyone had wet weather gear on.

Lyn who is leading the walk assures us that she has mapped out a course that will take us all over the reserve.

Continuing along the Middle fire trail and then the Eastern fire trail

This plant is either the Pale Currant Bush (leptomeria drupacea) or the White Sour Bush (choretrum candollei) both are named because of their intensely tart little berries

Practicing for Halloween?  Fortunately it was only a minor cut on her wrist.

 Walking past Penrhyn Pond

Overflow from the dam into Coffee Creek

This puddle contained an interesting number of bird and animal tracks

The state government is in the process of developing this major housing initiative on a 67 hectare site near Kingston with roughly 460 residential lots. The first release of stage 1 lots has just commenced.

Looking across the golf course towards North West Bay there is a rainbow very close to the ground.  While not as visible in the photo it was quite obvious with the naked eye.

And its morning tea time in the bright sunshine

We continue with the walk

Today we covered just over 12kms in mostly good weather - there were some showers but nothing that worried our hardy walkers.
