Nierinna Creek / Kaoota Tramway - 5th August 2025

Morris will lead today's walk which will be in the Margate area with the forecast for good walking weather.

 Soon after the start we cross this plank which is part of the shortcut across the property.

 And then through the orchard

 Here Morris is showing off his golf ball collection which he believes is due to crows stealing the balls from North West Bay Golf Club about 2.5kms away and then dropping them on his property.

 

Each day Morris also collects the official rain measurements for Margate and then sends them to the Bureau Of Meteorology where they are compiled. In this picture he explains the process (p.s. 0.4mm of rain fell overnight).

 

Next we go to the dam where a platypus put on a show for us - it was quite an experience and was appreciated by all

 

Leaving the dam we head off for Nierinna Creek

 

Morris has seen kookaburras going into the hole beside the big branch on the right of the tree

 

Along Nierinna Creek there were a number of small dams - some were natural and others man made

 

Its time for morning tea

We leave the creek and use Tabors Road to make our way to the Tramway Reserve

Trial Bay - Manuka Hill 29 July 2025

13 people attended today's walk led by Sally around the Kettering area.  We have done this walk in the past but today Sally decided to go in the opposite direction.  All up the walkers covered 13kms.

The group found this speed camera and being adults  they just had to see who was the fastest running through the beam - I'm not sure who but someone has just done 6kph
