Despite today's weather forecast for a max temperature of about 11, strong cold winds and increasing showers 14 hardy walkers turned up to tackle the walk from Howrah Beach to Waverley Flora Park and return.
Putting on warm gear
To keep warm Michael and Yong set off at a brisk pace
Looking towards Bellerive Beach
We stopped at Tilanby Park for morning tea and then continued along the Charles Darwin Walk until we reach Waverley Flora Park.
Leaving the houses behind and entering the park
We soon commence our only real climb for the day - to the top of Mornington Hill
Still smiling
Stage 1 completed and time for a short breather
Onto stage 2
Everyone is smiling now that we're at the top
And its lunch time. It was very pleasant being out of the wind and in bright sunshine
Lunch completed we continue along the Charles Darwin Walk using the steps for our descent
Almost out of the Park we reach this strange gate. It is quite a solid gate and short fence - but a meter away is a path that is obviously used by most walkers. What is the purpose of the gate?
We leave the park - our cars are parked at the end of this street
