Despite the forecast of rain during the day 13 hardy walkers set out for the walk from Risdon Brook Dam to Madmans Hill led by Bob.

Today's destination is one of the hills in the background

We set off over the dam wall and walk along the dam

Through the gate we leave the dam and enter the Mt. Direction Conversation Area

Madmans Hill directly ahead. Bit worried
Bob may change his mind and decide to tackle Gunners Quoin which is the steep hill to the right

Typical Tassie walk led by Bob - uphill!!

Morning Tea

The break isn't long enough for some

More uphil

Finally, irrefutable proof!

We have suspected for a long time that some of the tracks that Bob takes us along are nothing more than goat tracks.

Here we have photographic evidence this is in fact the case.

Must be getting near the top - been climbing for ages

Finally - Madmans Hill

Lunch

Old machinery

Probably from a steam driven bush mill back in the day - Jack

Interesting holes. There were a number of these in one paddock we crossed and not sure if they were sink holes, animal dens or sink holes converted to animal shelters

No obstacle too great. Lorna is considering a jump over the log

Sgt Major Robertson has the troops in marching order as we are approaching completion of today's trip

Mt. Wellington in the background

Back to the cars

All up we took 4hrs 20min to walk 11.3kms .

Notes, photos and maps supplied by Ron along with the GPS information.
