Old Farm Road - NewTown Falls 1 Jun 2021.

Today's walk is a good one. We have done some of the tracks on previous walks, but Bob has found a new and secret track for us.

He’s spent some time exploring the area to put together a nice loop course that will only add to the interest.

When we arrived at the car park at the end of Old Farm Road there was a ranger and about 8 -10 others who were excited that we were joining them for a weed busting day on the mountain. Unfortunately they were disappointed when we set of in a different direction to them.

Off we go away from the workers.

The consistent climb up Myrtle Gully Track.

The second bridge across the creek.

The third bridge.

And the fourth bridge.

I wonder who lives in this round hole.

Apparently someone supports the construction of cable car infrastructure through this section. More on this later.

We thought this might be a good alternative to a metal cable car tower about 10 meters from the sign.

It is very unusual to see two eucalypt trees hugging one another.

The Organ Pipes from below.

Rejoicing at a level place after the climb or Jenny is telling a good story.

Morning tea at Junction Cabin.

It's downhill from here.

The sign says it all.

After a thorough regeneration burn the new growth starts to spring forth.

Our one view of the river today.

The view of New Town Falls a little hidden.

That's better. But then I turned around to find the group disappearing into the bush.

Ron hasn't realised that the wild cherries aren't ripe yet.

And further up we climb.

To finally get back to Junction Cabin for a well earned lunch break.

The North South Track provided a couple of our walkers an opportunity to imitate mountain bikes going across a variety of challenging ramps and obstacles.

A closer view of the Organ Pipes.

Start of the mystery track.

Bob sought and received permission for our group to walk this track

A very nice fossil shell imprint on the lower part of the track.

It was a very good walk today with a number of participants acknowledging that they enjoyed it.

We had 16 walkers and covered 11.5km in 4hrs 20 mins.
