Kingston / Spring Farm - 18 July 2023

Not sure what to expect as the weather forecast for today was terrible - however despite this 15 walkers showed up on a sunny, cool and windy day.  The cold change is now expected to come at about 11:00am.

We assemble at the Kingborough Sports Centre and take off to a quick start hoping to get as much as possible done before the change.

The first section of the walk takes us through the cemetery

They think of everything here

This thoughtful cemetery not only provides resting places for those passed it also provides them for those still present

We continue through the bush towards Whitewater Creek

A view of Spring Farm that not many people get to see

A decent size obstacle .. interestingly everyone uses their own technique to negotiate it

We cross Whitewater Creek and surprise - we are in the suburbs (Spring Farm .. some one suggested that Whitewater Springs would be a more appropriate name!) and walk along the reserve which follows the creek.  The sunshine was much appreciated.

We leave Spring Farm and make our way to the small reserve in Patonga Street where we have morning tea.

After morning tea we pass this residence with over the top signage and can only wonder what sort of business is conducted in the premises

As we approach the primary school the weather changes and we decide the car park is a good spot to put on our wet weather gear.

Once settled we're off to the Kingston Wetlands

The two ponds on either side of this bridge were covered in a thick growth of algae bloom

Leaving the Wetlands we go through the tunnel and under the road to Kingston Park Playground .. the first feature we see is the fitness gym .. there were no takers!!

Next the bike repair station

And finally an activity that had unanimous approval .. lunch

Sign of the times

Sights along the Whitewater Creek track .. earlier today we also walked along its banks but much closer to its source

Passed this sign as we climbed to the Sports Centre .. notice none of the women stopped to read it!!

Good timing .. we completed the walk just as the rain started

15 walkers covered 11kms in 3.5 hrs and were fortunate to have mostly good weather for today's walk
