Today's walk will be along Nierinna Creek and the surrounding area.
With the forecast for a sunny day 21 walkers head off towards Margate Rivulet.
Fortunately the rivulet only has a bit of water in it and so is easy to cross
Morris one of our walkers owns the property on the other side of the rivulet and he takes us for a tour .. first up we look at the dam .. in the bright sunny weather the reflections are magnificent
Leaving the dam we go to the main part of the property past where the orchards used to be
Jane has a short stop and gets left behind
Morris takes the official rain measurement for the Bureau of Meteorology for the Margate area. Here he is explaining the daily process .. the can behind him holds the actual beaker used for measuring
We leave his property and go towards Nierinna Creek
A short distance along the creek is this small dam .. last time we were here there was a decent flow of water over the top .. today it is bone dry
The Nierinna Creek walking track is well maintained and has a number of bridges
Mendelt's unusual step climbing technique!
A not so serious conversation
More bridges
We take the track to the right .. those of you with good eyesight may notice that the horse sign on the tree is upside down
Finding a sunny spot on the track its time for morning tea
Some interesting mushrooms
We reach the end of the track at Lawless Road
Someone mentions the word "leech" and its time for a check
Progressing along to Tabors Road Lorna finds a pal
We enter the Tramway Hill reserve where we have lunch at Shiela's Shed
