Lake Dobson to Lake Fenton - 24 February 2026

Today's walk is in the Mount Field National Park - we will start at Lake Dobson and pass Lake Webster on our way to Lake Fenton where the walk will end. There is carpooling involved between the two lakes.

Unfortunately we got caught up in traffic and arrived at Mt Field about 45 minutes later than anticipated - never mind the perfect walking weather more than made up for the  delay.

At the carpark preparing for the walk

On our way

We reach the start of the track to Lake Webster

This part of the walk is well maintained and in part has quite a steep downward slope.  The next  2 photos - one looking backwards and the other forwards give an indication of this slope.

Mount Bridges on our left

We haven't time today so we ignore the turn to the Pandani Grove and continue on the track

Due to our late start it is decided to skip morning tea (this could be a first) and stop for lunch

Leaving Lake Dobson and Lake Webster behind we head off towards Lake Fenton.  From this point onwards the track becomes narrower and isn't maintained as well.

 Interesting tree

The numerous obstacles on the track ensure a full body workout

Our next fun obstacle was crossing the Broad River.  With the "encouragement" of those on dry land the crossing was achieved without any mishaps.

Continuing along the track

In parts the track becomes very narrow and overgrown

Three wise monkeys?   It was suggested they should be called entree, main and dessert

Not sure what the attraction is

As is usual for this time of the year there is lots of colourful flora about

As we missed our morning tea it's only fair that we stop for afternoon tea!

Afternoon tea over we set off on the last leg to Lake Fenton.  A lot of this is on rocks.

Thanks to Mendelt and Chris for leading the walk and for their photos.   It took about 5.5 hours to cover the 9kms.  A very enjoyable walk.
