Today we are walking the tracks and beaches around the villages of Carlton Beach and Dodges Ferry.
The weather forecast is for overcast skies and light winds so good walking weather.
Starting from the car park at Dodges Ferry.
Following the track around Tiger Head.
Looking towards the lagoon entrance from the Tiger Head Track.
Mount Wellington in the distance.
Enjoying the view and continuing with the talking.
Spectacle Island
Walking along Red Ochre Beach.
Morning tea on a sandstone shelf at the end of Red Ochre Beach.
Scrambling past the sandstone formations.
Some local stone stacks.
Interesting formation of this sandstone block.
Probably a more recent hand painted shelf.
Looking back along Red Ochre Beach.
Spectacle Island from the Bluff Lookout.
Looking towards Carlton Beach from Rocky the Whale Lookout.
Rocky the Whale.
Descending to the Carlton Beach car park.
After a few minutes watching the surfers do their thing we continued our walk along Carlton Beach.
These steps once provided access to the beach until the sand dunes were washed away in a recent storm.
Chris had walked the length of the beach in bare feet then needed to clean the sand of his feet before putting the boots and socks back on for the rest of the walk.
Lunch just inside the entrance to Carlton River.
Looking out the entrance to the river.
A lagoon behind the Carlton Beach Dunes.
Following tracks between the houses at Carlton River.
