We are walking today to Grey Mountain which is at the top of Cradoc Hill Rd - which is the reason that one of our group consistently calls our objective as Cradoc Hill as the road is called.
The forecast for today is for late rain and a weather warning for strong winds so we will see how far we get.
Looking across towards Franklin on the other side of the Huon River,
A short walk on Cradoc Hill Road until we enter the forest plantation area.
Looking south.
Cygnet Bay and yacht moorings.
Across the Huon River towards the Hartz Mountain.
An abandoned dam with lots of noisy frogs.
Climbing out of the plantation area.
Morning tea just after entering the forest.
A leisurely stroll up the hill.
Looking behind towards Surveyors Bay on the Huon River.
The hill is getting a bit steeper.
And some puddles to negotiate.
The track gradually deteriorates and gets steeper.
Richea Drachophylla new flower buds.
Blue Metallic Beetles.
Sleeping Beauty above Mountain River.
Approaching storm and wind.
Heading back down the track.
More Richea Dracophylla flowers.
Lunch spot.
Maybe the last fungi for the season.
Looking towards the Huon River.
We had 16 walkers who cover 13kms in 4.75 hours climbing and descending 560 meters.
While it was quite windy the bad weather stayed away until we had returned to Kingston.
An enjoyable new walk that we will probably wait a while before tackling it again.
Thanks to Chris for the photos.
