The walk today is from Geilston Bay to Caves Hill in the Pilchers Hill Reserve.
A very cold start with frost on the ground as we follow Faggs Creek from the car park.
Entering the reserve.
Navigating the entrance gate.
Climbing the hill on the Rocky Tom Track.
Tremella mesenterica
Morning tea on the first level sunny spot up the hill.
Seating provided by recently felled trees.
Starting the climb to Rocky Tom.
This piece of country is somewhat difficult.
Finally the view towards the City from Rocky Tom.
The view in most directions are pretty good.
The view to Mt Wellington with a cloud on top.
The climb from Rocky Tom Track to Cave Hill.
Our cairn builders in action.
Although this extension may not last once the wind picks up.
Coming back to Cave Hill.
The track down from Rocky Tom has been significantly eroded since our last visit.
We had 16 walkers who covered 9.1 kms over 4.5 hours and climbed and descended 340 meters.
Thanks to Ron and Mendelt for their photo contributions.
