Mt Direction - 14 Jul 2026

We are walking today from Risdon Brook car park to Mount Direction and return.

The forecast is for a cold but fine day with light winds.

The group are preparing to leave the car park.

Crossing the dam wall.

A view through the trees down the river to the Tasman Bridge.

Can you see the 5 wallabies in this picture.

Rugged up for the cold.

The climbing starts.

Looking back over Risdon Brook Dam.

A rustic hut constructed by the track.

Probably the steepest part of the climb.

The morning tea stop after the climb.

Our cairn builders cannot help themselves.

Or make a point of showing off their work.

Further climbing.

But the view was worth the climb.

The cairn on the top of Mount Direction.

Heading back down the hill.

The sun shining on the grassed area around the Dam.

There were eight walkers who covered 7.25 km climbing and descending 390 meters over 3.5 hours.

All the walkers enjoyed the short sharp climb and return walk.

Thanks to Mendelt, Ron  and Chris for their photos.
