Lauderdale - Mays Beach 2019

I was away again this week, but Peter has once again filled the gap and provided a description of the day along with photos.

Peter said:

My brief report is as follows,

12 participants

Approximately 12 km and it took about 3.45 hours

As there was a strong southerly blowing Bob  advised us that he had changed the walk from the proposed Sorell walk (because of wind exposure while going round Orielton Lagoon ) to the Lauderdale Walk proposed later in the program. He will do the Sorell walk on the 12 November.

We met at the Lauderdale road end of the canal today to commence the walk from there.

We were delayed starting by about 15 mins  because one carload of walkers realized as they were entering the causeway to Sorell that they had overshot the turnoff to Lauderdale by a couple of kilometers???. Apparently the reasoning was that the discussions in the car were so interesting that they were distracted from their navigational tasks.

Meanwhile Bob and Francesca had taken off from the car park to make sure that the missing group had not parked at our usual spot on the beach end of the canal.

Once the missing group arrived we proceeded down the canal and there is a photo of the meeting with Bob about halfway down the canal.

This little episode being sorted we commenced the walk in earnest.

It was actually quite a pleasant walk being sheltered fro the southerly winds most of the way.

The only difference from the Blogs 2014 walk was where we started from.
